Notes from the North Pole

In 2009, I was diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer and given only a 40% chance of surviving.  Not knowing how much time I had left and the fact that I hadn’t celebrated Christmas for many years – I  wanted to see if I could get that same holiday spirit that I used to get when I was a kid.  But my treatments ended in November and I spent Christmas and New Years in bed.

Eighteen months later, I began volunteering at the Cancer Center in Surrey, where I had received my treatments and a lot of love.

In 2012, I wrote a story about how I re-discovered Christmas and it was published in several community newspapers.

Here is the link to that story:  Not a creature was stirring

I have been doing my Santa Danny visits ever since.

Here are a few photos from some of my visits:

    1. Hugs to you both! I’m feeling much better – saw the surgeon yesterday and he was pleased with how things were looking. I’m happy that you enjoy the stories and one day I hope to be visiting all of my friends on Carriageway Court – my all-time-favorite neighborhood! Hugs and Love from the Left Coast, Santa Danny
